This role sits within the IT team which comprises 40 plus technology specialists based in our London, Cardiff, Manchester and Belfast offices. Our role is to deliver industry-leading technology solutions for our clients, our staff and our communities, underpinning the firm’s future products and services to enable business growth and enhance profitability. 

 

About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Platform Product Lead to join our team. This is an exciting role focusing data warehousing and business intelligence for the firm and external clients. 

You will be joining our data and architecture team whose mission is to re-imagine how we manage and extract value from our data. You will be a hands-on data engineer with experience in Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, Fabric, legacy SSRS reporting and data cubes. Your expertise and ability to implement best practices in a newly established team and fast changing data environment will be essential in driving the success of the team.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Data Warehouse SQL environments.
  • Work with business and technical teams to elicit and document requirements for data coming into the data warehouse from source systems to support changing and evolving business intelligence use cases. 
  • Plan, design, implement, update and support data pipelines in ADF. 
  • Support the development and maintenance of the data warehouse dimensional model and development of data marts. 
  • Ensure the adoption of best practices, develop standards and new processes to optimise cost and service delivery. 
  • Provide technical knowledge and expertise on the data warehouse environments.  

Operational Support 

  • Provide on-going support for the data warehousing environments. Work closely with application owners, vendors and business owners to test and resolve technical faults. 
  • Debug and troubleshoot data warehousing issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. 

Documentation and Governance 

  • Create and maintain documentation, including architectural diagrams, specifications, and operational guidelines.  
  • Enforce data management governance processes, standards, and best practices. 
About you

You will have a professional manner, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have previous experience working within an office. You’ll have a flexible nature and will enjoy working within a fast-paced team, and will be highly organised. You’ll also possess strong numeracy and attention to detail skills, which will be key within this role. We are looking for someone who is passionate about being a team player, who is keen to support others.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Direct, hands-on experience with Azure and Microsoft data stack (Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, SQL, Fabric, SSRS, PowerBi, etc).
  • Confidence building and managing data pipelines.
  • Previous experience in working with data cubes and migrating SSRS reports to PowerBI and tabular model is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modelling/mapping and methodology development, and data mapping.
  • General knowledge of database solutions, application services, data architecture and architecture patterns. 
  • Experience of working in a legal or professional services organisation would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. 
  • Ability to conduct research into data management technologies and best practices. 
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. 
  • Ability to prioritise and execute tasks.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
